Srinagar, Jan 26 (KNO): Several government buildings were lit up in Kashmir ahead of the celebration of Republic Day. Srinagar Airport, Civil Secretariat Srinagar Jammu and Kashmir High Court Jahangir Chowk flyover was illuminated and decorated with colourful lights and garlands. Srinagar Airport was specially decorated and lit up with Tri colour lights. Director Srinagar Airport while speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, "26th January is a day on which every Indian heart fills up with patriotic fervour and immense love for motherland, On the eve of 72th Republic Day we have lightened and decorated Srinagar airport on this beautiful occasion." The Republic Day celebrations take place all over the country, however, Delhi being the capital of India, witnesses the largest Republic Day celebrations. On the day all important government buildings are beautifully adorned with sparkly lights every evening till 29th January, when Beating the Retreat ceremony is conducted. In an official statement, it said, “On 72th Republic day on 26th January Airport Authority of India, Airlines, CRPF, and CISF witnessed the celebrations at Srinagar International Airport.” “The importance of the Constitution and its unique features such as Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic enshrined in the preamble of the constitution,” Director Srinagar Airport Santosh Dhoke (IAP) said in his address. On the occasion Director Airport also distributed the certificate of appreciation to AAI, Airlines, AAICLAS, CRPF, CISF and J&K police employees for their extraordinary services and dedication to their profession. Tricolour flags were also seen raised on the banks of the Dal Lake. Meanwhile, low-speed internet service was snapped in the Valley which was later restored in the evening by authorities—(KNO)
